For those in the state of CT, looking for a more traditional therapy model
Congratulations on starting a therapy journey (or continuing it)! I have been working with people struggling with chronic illness/pain, stress and anxiety for a decade as a health&life coach, and later on, as a therapist. I went back to grad school when I realized the level our psyche and past trauma play into our current day health. While I am grateful for my clinical training, I will always say my greatest training is from being in your exact seat. I have sat in the client seat for years with many gifted people and continue to do so. It allows me much greater depth with my clients. While I am always grateful that regular talk therapy and cognitive behavioral tools that exist, my greatest growth came from clinicians and healers who made me learn to connect to my body and feelings and DIG DEEP. My time in the room was no longer about venting the same old stories. I often heard things I didn’t want to hear (with love) or couldn’t see at the moment. Slowly, I began to learn to not live in my head all the time. This is the approach I embody today. Most of my clients will say I offer immense compassion but will also challenge you to look deep at the stuff you may be (consciously/or unconsciously) turning away from.

My Approach
My approach is “holistic” which is often a loaded word in today’s world. For me, I look at each person as a make up of the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. I have a health coach background focused on wellness, but I also have extra coursework in psychopharmacology and have collaborated with many clients’s psychiatrists over the years. I believe holistic means to use all the tools we have available to us.

My approach is client-led and generally encompasses: somatic work, trauma-informed approaches, attachment science, gestalt concepts, spirituality (if applicable), mindfulness, the mind-body connection and neuroplasticity concepts (the ability for the brain to rewire). Many people I work with have been exposed to purely cognitive approaches in the past and say, “I know all this but what do I do with it?”
My Experience
I have worked with clients from all ages, backgrounds, and cultures and have spent clinical time in an Addiction Recovery house for the LQTBQI+ population, a community mental health clinic where I worked bilingually with individuals and couples, and doing volunteer work with Hispanic immigrants. My current age focus is teenagers through seniors.

One of my main specialities is chronic illness, chronic pain and stress disorders . I know how lonely and isolating the experience can be and how exhausting it is to be in constant survival mode. I offer support and compassion while also providing day to day tools rooted in the ever-changing field of neuroplasticity to help with some of the changes in the brain that can happen through ongoing illness, pain, and stress. I also help someone explore what underlying conscious and unconscious stressors may be contributing to symptoms.

I also have extensive experience with anxiety disorders, attachment issues, developmental trauma, mood disorders, neurodiversity, disordered eating and Highly Sensitive People. Hablo español también y puedo ofrecer terapia en español.

Please note: due to my own autoimmune conditions, I can only take on clients who are not in active crisis. I would be glad to make you a referral to someone who may better suit your needs. As of now, I unfortunately cannot panel with insurance due to licensing rules but do offer a sliding scale for the right fit.

I look forward to walking on your path with you!
